29.08.08: Ottawa

Starched with a rich and fresh breakfast in our little hotel (insider tip http://www.albertinn.com/) in downtown we started our 9 hours sightseeing tour through Canada's Capital. Here our points of interests: Parliament incl. Library by a guided tour and Parliament Hill with the most government buildings by a self guided tour, Basilica Notre-Dame, Bymarket, Bytown-Museum incl. the old watergates (by the way: Bytown is the old name of Ottawa), National Gallery of Canada, Courtyards and some Monuments. Unfortunately there was not enough time to visit all the interesting museums...
Can you imagine that we paid nothing for all this?! We spent only 1 dollar for a candle in the Basilica....
At 9:30 PM we marveled at the "Sound & Light Show" on the Parliament Hill. It was amazing! One more time we could see/hear that the Canadians are very proud of their country.
O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

28.08.08: Huntsville - Algonquin Park - Ottawa
Our trip from Huntsville to Ottawa led us trough the Algonquin Provincial Park (7,630 square kilometres of forests, lakes, and rivers). We made 2 small hikking tours and discovered that the landscape is totally different to the one in the West. Due to the fact that we have only 9 days here in the East we decided to drive directly to Ottawa on the same day. Here we are now!!
